The key is following the weight limits and removal instructions carefully. Overloading an adhesive hook or pulling it straight off the wall instead of slowly stretching the tab is where things go wrong.

Lean, Don't Hang

Not everything needs to be mounted. Leaning large pieces against the wall — an oversized mirror, a framed print, a decorative ladder — is a legitimate design choice that works especially well in open-concept spaces. It also makes rearranging easy when you want a change.

Floor plants in corners (fiddle leaf figs, snake plants, pothos on a stand) work beautifully in open-concept rooms. Smaller plants on windowsills or shelves fill gaps without clutter.

If you're not confident with plants, start with something low-maintenance: snake plants and pothos survive almost anything and still look great.

Temporary Wallpaper and Peel-and-Stick Panels

Peel-and-stick wallpaper has become genuinely good. It's available in a wide range of patterns and textures, goes up in an afternoon, and removes cleanly when you move. A single accent wall in a bedroom or behind open shelving in the kitchen can completely change the feel of a room.

Test a small corner first to make sure it removes cleanly from your specific wall surface before committing to a full wall.

Make the Most of Your Suite's Existing Character

Modern suites — particularly open-concept designs with high ceilings and large windows — already have strong bones. Sometimes the best decorating approach is working with what's there rather than trying to cover it: let the natural light be the feature, keep surfaces clean and uncluttered, and add a few intentional pieces rather than filling every wall.
