Living in an apartment community means sharing space, walls, and hallways with your neighbors. At Northtowne Properties, we believe that simple courtesy goes a long way in creating a happy, harmonious environment for everyone. Follow this guide to renter's etiquette to help ensure a peaceful and enjoyable experience in your building.

Mind the Noise Levels

Noise is the most common complaint in apartment living. Being mindful of your volume, especially during certain hours, is crucial.

  • Be Aware of the Time: Keep noise levels minimal before 8:00 AM and after 10:00 PM. This is particularly important for activities like vacuuming, running the washing machine, or playing music.
  • Foot Traffic: If you live in an upper unit, be conscious of heavy footsteps. Placing area rugs in high-traffic areas can significantly reduce noise transfer to your downstairs neighbors.

Respect Common Areas

Common areas—the hallways, stairs, and parking lots—belong to everyone in the building.

  • Keep it Clear: Never leave personal items, garbage, or unwanted furniture in hallways or stairwells. This creates an eyesore and can be a safety hazard.

  • Prompt Reporting: Submit non-emergency maintenance requests promptly through the online Resident Center portal so our in-house team can address them efficiently.
  • Direct Communication: If you have a minor, non-urgent issue with a neighbor, it's often best to address it politely and directly first. If the issue continues or is serious, always contact your property manager.

By adhering to these basic principles of courtesy and responsibility, we can all work together to maintain a welcoming, respectful, and peaceful community at Northtowne Properties.
