As the crisp autumn air starts to roll across Manitoba, it’s time to trade in your sandals for sweaters and your iced coffee for a warm cup of cocoa. At Northtowne Properties, we believe your apartment should be a cozy retreat from the fall chill. Our modern, neutral spaces provide the perfect blank canvas for your seasonal decorating, and with these renter-friendly tips, you can effortlessly make your home feel warm and inviting.

Layer Up with Textiles

Nothing says "cozy" like soft, inviting fabrics. This is one of the easiest ways to add warmth to your Winnipeg apartment.

  • Throw Blankets: Drape a chunky knit blanket over your sofa or the arm of a chair. The visual texture alone makes the room feel warmer.
  • Pillows: Swap out light summer pillows for ones in rich, autumnal colors like burgundy, burnt orange, mustard yellow, or deep green. Velvets and faux furs add a luxurious touch.
  • Rugs: A soft area rug can make a space feel instantly cozier and help define your living area in our spacious, open-concept layouts.

Bring Nature Indoors

Capture the beauty of fall by bringing elements from the outdoors inside.

  • Seasonal Scents: Fill your home with the scents of autumn. Safely use candles, or opt for flameless diffusers with scents like cinnamon, apple, or pumpkin spice.
  • Natural Decor: Go for a walk in a local park and gather pinecones, acorns, or colorful leaves to display in a bowl or vase. Pumpkins and gourds are classic, affordable decor that add a rustic feel.
  • Potted Plants: Add a touch of living greenery to your space. While not strictly autumnal, their presence complements the season's rich colors.

Illuminate Your Evenings

As the days get shorter, lighting plays a key role in creating a cozy apartment atmosphere.

  • String Lights: Drape fairy lights or warm-toned string lights along bookshelves or windows for a soft, magical glow.
  • Layered Lighting: Use a mix of floor lamps, table lamps, and overhead fixtures to create different moods. A warm, diffused light is more inviting than a single harsh light source.

Tablescapes and Entryway Nooks

Even the smallest spaces can make a big impact with fall apartment decor.

  • Coffee Table Centerpiece: Arrange a few candles, a small decorative pumpkin, and a book on a decorative tray.
  • Entryway Welcome: Create a welcoming vibe with a small welcome mat or a tiered tray holding keys and a seasonal trinket.
  • Kitchen & Dining: Our modern Northtowne kitchens provide the perfect stage for a seasonal tablescape. Display a vase with fall foliage or a decorative bowl of apples.

Our apartments in Winnipeg, Lorette rentals, and Ste. Anne apartments with their clean, modern finishes provide the ideal backdrop for any seasonal style. The in-suite laundry at all of our properties makes washing all your cozy throws and blankets a breeze, and our open layouts mean you have plenty of room to get creative.
